A practical guide, not a promise of magic
Can an iPhone sort your apps into folders automatically?
Thomas Chung ·
‘Automatically organize my apps’ sounds obvious until you ask what ‘organize’ means. Does every game go in Games? Does the banking app belong with bills or with the things you open every morning? A computer can make a guess. You still have to live with it.
App Library is not the same as your folders
Apple’s App Library groups apps and lets you find them without keeping every icon on the Home Screen. That is the fastest free answer if you just want fewer visible icons. It does not rebuild your personal folders or design your first page for you.
If a page feels crowded, try removing a rarely used icon from the Home Screen without deleting the app. Do that before you hand the entire layout to an organizer. You might find that hiding ten things solves the real problem.
A plan needs a preview
Unjiggle’s Pro plans can suggest layout changes from a Mac after a USB scan. You preview the proposed moves before you apply them. That last step matters more to me than the word ‘automatic’: a plan can misunderstand what you actually want on page one.
We have presets and an optional AI Stylist. Neither gives an app permission to silently reorganize your phone. Included AI sends the documented layout details to Anthropic through our server only when you request that AI result; preset feedback can stay on your Mac. Those are different choices.
Where I would draw the line
I would not promise that every app ends up in the ‘right’ folder. Categories from the App Store are clues, not your intentions. A maps app might be Travel to one person and Daily to another. A useful organizer makes disagreements easy to spot in the preview.
If you already like your folders, keep them. If you don’t, scan first, try a proposed plan, and change only what you agree with. The goal is a home screen that makes sense to you, not an impressive-looking auto-sort animation.
Bottom line: Apple can group apps in App Library. A personal Home Screen plan still needs your judgment before it changes anything.
