A practical guide, not a promise of magic

Can you organize an iPhone home screen from a computer?

Thomas Chung ·

People keep asking whether they can organize an iPhone from a computer. I think the missing word is ‘which?’ A Mac and a Windows PC are not interchangeable here, and a ten-year-old iTunes screenshot is not a product recommendation.

On a Mac, yes — with limits

Unjiggle’s Mac app runs on Apple Silicon with macOS 14 or later. Connect the iPhone over USB and tap Trust. A free scan shows the current home-screen layout, score, and places you might want to fix. A Pro plan can then be previewed and, only if you choose, applied and undone.

The app does not mirror your iPhone as a draggable desktop. It reads a layout, helps you assess it, and offers a controlled way to change it. If all you wanted was to move two icons, doing that on the phone is faster.

On Windows, not with this Mac app

I do not want a Windows reader to download a Mac app and discover it will not run. Unjiggle Pro for Mac is not a Windows application. Apple’s edit mode and App Library still work on the iPhone regardless of your computer. Use them rather than trusting a page that quietly assumes you own a Mac.

The public Unjiggle engine has a separate command-line interface for technical users. That is not the same thing as promising a supported Windows desktop app or the same Pro experience on every computer.

Ignore the obsolete shortcut

Many search results still talk about rearranging apps with older versions of iTunes. Software and iOS changed. Check the date and the exact platform before treating a screenshot of an old app grid as instructions for your phone today.

My rule: if the problem is a couple of icons, use the phone. If the problem is understanding the whole layout, start with a Mac scan. If the problem is Windows compatibility, do not pretend the Mac download solves it.

Bottom line: The honest answer is ‘yes on a supported Mac with the right tool; not with Unjiggle’s Mac app on Windows.’
