A practical guide, not a promise of magic
How do you organize an iPhone home screen quickly?
Thomas Chung ·
I don’t think anyone should spend a Saturday afternoon alphabetizing every icon. If you have ten minutes, the best home-screen cleanup is the one you will still like next week.
First two minutes: decide what matters
Look at your first page and dock. Which apps do you genuinely reach for every day? Keep those easy to find. If an app is there because it came with the phone, not because you use it, move it or remove its Home Screen icon. That is a reversible, free first move.
Do not start by naming 20 folders. A folder is helpful only if you remember which one an app lives in. One clear page and a predictable dock beat an elaborate filing system you will forget.
Next five minutes: reduce friction
Move rarely opened icons off the Home Screen and leave them in App Library. Collapse half-empty pages only when the remaining pages become easier to scan. If a folder is a junk drawer, split it by a purpose you can name out loud, or stop keeping those icons visible.
Notice where you hesitate before tapping. If you search for an app every time because you cannot remember its folder, that folder is not helping. There is no universal perfect grid: the best layout is the one you can navigate without thinking.
If the problem is bigger than ten minutes
Plug your iPhone into a supported Mac and Unjiggle can scan and score the layout without changing it. The free diagnosis shows the weak pages and folders. The separate 60-second website quiz is just a quiz based on your answers; it is not a USB scan or a measurement of your phone.
I would rather tell you ‘page four is almost empty’ than sell you a grand redesign for a problem one small edit could solve. If the diagnosis says you need a larger plan, preview it first and decide whether it is worth changing anything.
Bottom line: Improve the first page you actually use. Do not reorganize everything just because an app can.

Curious about your own layout?
Take the free 60-second quiz in your browser. It uses your answers, not a scan of your phone. For a real layout score, you need the free Mac app and a USB connection.
